Arlington’s Artbeat has the Antidote… for Cabin Fever
Posted by Tara, Ziptivity’s Metro Boston Community Ambassador
Have cabin fever? Experiencing a little too much family togetherness? Artbeat in Arlington has the antidote. Every Friday from 6-8pm, Artbeat hosts Pizza & Art, a creative, social and yumilicious evening for kids ages 8 and up. You can register up until 5pm on Friday by calling 781-646-2200. Then drop your child off before 6:15, when the craft activity starts. This Friday, the kids will create gift boxes with an embossed heart design to give to someone special. 6:30 is pizza break time, and then popcorn will follow later.
While the kids are busy creating masterpieces and devouring pizza, you and your significant other can enjoy a kid-free night out on the town. You will find some wonderful restaurants right there in Capitol Square. If you’re looking for a menu that builds on the fundamentals of Nepalese and Indian cuisines, try Kathmandu Spice. If you prefer simple, homemade Italian made with fresh ingredients, Ristorante Olivio is bellissimo. Or, try flora for American seasonal cuisine, featuring fresh vegetables and local foods.
After a pleasurable and rejuvenating dining experience, walk back over to Artbeat for 8pm pick up. If you would like a little more adult-centered time, you can make arrangements 24 hours in advance for later pick-up, at the rate of $15 per hour. At the end of the evening, you will all walk out of Artbeat with full bellies and smiles on your faces.
If your kids aren’t old enough for Pizza & Art night, take your little ones to Artbeat this Saturday or Sunday to make Valentine’s Day gifts. All heart projects are $2 off! If you still need some adult time, leave the kids at home (with a parent or sitter, of course!) and check out The Creativity Group: Art Play for Adults on Monday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30pm. Led by Jan, Artbeat’s founder and creative director, it’s like art camp for adults. It’s time to reconnect to your creative self. Go on, you deserve it!
